Our Achievements
Celebrating the progress, milestones, and successes of our adult service users and team.
Recent Achievements & Highlights
At Paces, every achievement matters — from a first independent step to a professional qualification. Here are some of the highlights from our adult services community.
Individual Milestones
The activities below run across the week, planned around each person’s goals and abilities.
Sally's Qualification
Congratulations to Sally, who has completed her Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification — a wonderful achievement that reflects her commitment to professional development and the people she supports.
Tristan's Voice
Tristan has been working on forming full sentences using his eye-gaze technology — a significant achievement that is opening up new ways for him to communicate and express himself. The team are incredibly proud of his determination.
Matty's Progress
Matty has been making fantastic progress with standing and steps, working with a ladder and walking sling — milestones that reflect months of dedicated work and determination. His development is an inspiration to everyone in the service.
Gemma's Progress
Gemma recently got a new eye gaze and has been working really hard on using it more often. She has been amazing and has started to use it during her sensory sessions. We were really impressed when she indicated to staff that something was wrong and then looked out of the window. We realized that we had forgotten to talk about what the weather was like today. Gemma thought this was hilarious and then used her eye gaze to tell us what the weather was doing. We are super impressed with progress she is making.
Group & Team Highlights
The activities below run across the week, planned around each person’s goals and abilities.
Service User Council
Service user council meetings have resumed, giving our adult service users a formal voice in how services are developed and delivered. This is an important part of our commitment to being truly person-centred.
Tuesday Group Life Skills
Our Tuesday afternoon group have been developing real-world life skills — including food storage, food recognition, and matching food items with symbols. The team have seen genuine progress in independence and confidence in this area.
Sensory Group
The sensory group have been fully engaged with creative activities — including making slime and a paper mache octopus. A new ceiling track hoist has been fitted, allowing an even wider range of participants to access the space.
Swimming
Some of us have been out swimming over the summer. We are really enjoying getting out and being free in the water. It is not all easy though as we have been working on using our movement whilst in the water. We have even got into upright standing positions which is something many of us are unable to do out of the water.
Wizard of Oz Project
Our Wizard of Oz project has come to end and as always, we finished with a party. Lots of the staff dressed up, we played games and ate party food, took pictures in our homemade photo both and had a quiz to end the day.
Sports Day
We spent a week at Paces school whilst we had a deep clean at Smithy Wood. We made the most of our time there we had a sports day in the park and used the new playground equipment. We especially loved the roundabout. We had a picnic, went out for a walk in the park and some of us ventured to the pub for lunch.
Animal Trips
We have been on animal themed trips to the butterfly house, Cannon Hall farm and Yorkshire Wildlife Park.
New Service Users
We have three new service users join us too. It feels like we’ve known them forever and they have soon settled into our group, getting to know each other.
New Staff
We have two new staff members who have joined our team this month. Zoe and Fiona both started around the same time and are busy getting to know everyone. They have already settled in really well and our guys are loving getting to know them too.
